A Short History of the Ohio State Flag

The Ohio state flag is arguably the most unique design among all the state flags. It is the only state flag that is in the classic swallowtail burgee shape and it contains no text at all, as does the flags of only eleven other states. The "O" at the center stands for both the State's name and symbol, the "Buckeye", which is a type of nut. There are thirteen stars grouped around the hoist side of the "O" and four more on the other side representing the other four states when Ohio joined the Union.
