A Short History of the Oregon State Flag
The Oregon state flag bears the distinction of being the only state flag with completely different designs on each side. Like the Alaska and Indiana flags, the state flag of Oregon shows only two colors, yellow design elements over a blue background.
The front side of the flag depicts the State Seal in the center, the words, "State of Oregon" above the Seal and "1859", the date Oregon joined the Union, below the Seal. On the reverse side appears a beaver, alluding to the State's nickname, "The Beaver State".
